A brief history...
The Yuma Mesa Irrigation and Drainage District (YMIDD) has a
history tied to the development of irrigation and water management in
the Yuma area, particularly in relation to the Colorado River. Key aspects include early
canal construction, the completion of dams like Laguna and Imperial, and
the establishment of a pumping station to get water from Gila Gravity Canal over 70 feet up to the Yuma Mesa. Providing water to agriculture. YMIDD also participated in a voluntary Pilot Fallowing Program to conserve water in Lake Mead.
